After graduating from Bard College in 2011 with a degree in Japanese Language and Literature, I moved to San Francisco where I worked in retail, tech, and custom manufacturing. I was offered an opportunity to work for the JET Program in Kumamoto, Japan in 2014. Since then, I have been exploring Japan, and developing my interest in cultural exchange. I graduated from Kyushu University in September 2018 with an MA in Japanese Humanities, focusing on mindfulness in Japan. Since then I have been perusing Japanese Language at the Inter-University Center for Japanese Studies (アメリカ・カナダ大学連合日本研究センター) in Yokohama.
My experiences both in the US and in Japan have helped me develop my skill for cultural fluency, Japanese language, and project management. Graduate school was primarily research based, which required accurate time management and attention to detail. I work well under pressure and can produce high-quality work in short periods of time. Having had a variety of workplace environments, I have strong interpersonal skills and can work with a wide variety of people. This experience has also extended to my ability to problem solve.
In my free time, I love to sail, plan long bicycle trips, read, make new knitwear designs, experiment in the kitchen, and explore Yokohama.
